Veg Food Trucks!

Anne and I are planning on attending this cool sounding Veg Friendly Food Truck Event , tomorrow August 17 right by Nationals Park from 5-7:30pm. I am always on the look out for food trucks that offer vegetarian options, and was excited to see this event. While its starting small, the more people who show an interest in veg food truck options, the more we will see it. DC is a great town for food trucks (leaving aside some political difficulties ). I will take some pics and provide an update on this after tomorrow!

Eat (Vegan) Fresh!

I have always maintained a love-hate relationship with Subway. Before my veg days, it was easily my favorite and most often visited fast food choice. I always liked the idea that I was eating healthier, if not entirely healthy. A few months back I spotted this campaign from Compassion Over Killing  and I signed it right away. The coolest thing about this is that it worked! Subway has begun to roll out some new vegan options, and luckily enough, they are testing these at select DC, MD, and VA locations.  I myself cannot wait to check out these new vegan options!

Hawthorne Homemade Organic Juice Bar Review

Last week I stumbled upon Hawthorne Homemade Organic Juice Bar & Market around the corner from our apartment. A vegetarian neighbor alerted us to this new place and so I was really excited to stop in and chat with Jo Anna .  Its not every day that you find a new and awesome businesses that cater to vegetarians and vegans. She gave me some samples and I was impressed for sure. I tried some of their awesome freshly squeezed juice. I am not usually a fan of green juices, but she sweetened it slightly and added some lime for a citrusy finish. It was amazing and I could have drunk a gallon of the stuff!

Review: North Sea DC

I love Chinese food. It is safe to say I ate a lot of it growing up in New York where there is a lot of good Chinese food. Washington DC is infamous for a lack of good Chinese food. Recently, Anne and I have discovered a few Chinese take out places that have a decent selection of mock meats to accompany the usual selection of tofu and vegetables. In recognition of the beginning of the Chinese New Year today (Year of the Dragon), we ordered from North Sea DC , which also delivers to our neighborhood for free (great for cold, damp nights like tonight). Our usual order includes a tofu dish, "chicken" with cashew nuts, and General Tso's "chicken".
